Her lifelong love of both writing and reading led her to journalism. She loves to meet new people through her work and turn their words into interesting stories. At SAIT, Kelsey volunteered at the student-run paper, The Weal, as her first real experience in the field.
For the last five months, she has been an intern at the Strathmore Standard. Kelsey is responsible for reporting on events in the community, photographing different things, and writing articles every week. It has been an eye-opening experience for her to get to know a small-town on such a personal level. She has spent a lot of time in Strathmore and the surrounding rural communities such as Rosebud, Carseland, and Gleichen. Over the summer she also spent several weeks reporting in Hanna, the hometown of Nickelback.
When she’s not working on her next article, Kelsey enjoys hiking and exploring the outdoors with her husband, Shawn.
